Arriving in Naushahro Feroze

After siginificant delays in the visa processing, I was finally allowed to enter the country. The road to Naushahro Feroze begins in Karachi, crossing the souhtern part of Pakistan through national roads that pass through Hyderabad halfway through. During the 8 hour drive, Ms. Saima Siyal, chairperson of the DREAM organization, delightfully taught me about the country's rich culture and history. On our way, we passed the Indus river, a key water resource in the country and home to some of the largests human habitations of the ancient world, dating back to around 3300 BC. Another fascinating aspect of the local culture that immediately caught my eye was the pervasive "truck art", the custome of richly ornating trucks.

Auto-rickshaws, popular in India and Pakistan alike, share the roads with trucks and autos, being a convenient method of local transportation.

Arriving in Naushahro Feroze, we were happy to start the work the next day, by meething with our local collaborating team of research assistants!
